About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Nurse Educators and Practitioners Journal (NEPJ) is a peer-reviewed publication dedicated to advancing the science and practice of nursing education and clinical care. The journal publishes original research, evidence-based practice reports, literature reviews, case studies, and commentaries that address the evolving needs of nurse educators, clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners, and nursing students across academic and healthcare settings.

NEPJ welcomes submissions on topics including, but not limited to:

  • Nursing Education
  • Evidence-Based Practice and Safety
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Practice
  • Nursing Leadership and Policy
  • Nursing Innovation and Research
  • Ethics, Law, and Accountability

Open Access Policy

NEPJ is a fully open access journal. All content is freely available to readers and institutions worldwide immediately upon publication, without subscription fees, registration barriers, or embargo periods. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of articles, in accordance with the terms of the license under which each article is published (see Copyright Notice below).

This journal adheres to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of open access and does not charge readers or their institutions for access.

Authors who publish with NEPJ retain copyright of their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), unless otherwise noted, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author(s) and source are properly credited.

Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their published work to institutional repositories, personal websites, or preprint servers, provided proper attribution is given to its initial publication in this journal.

Journal History

The Nurse Educators and Practitioners Journal (NEPJ) was established in 2025 by the Nurse Educators and Practitioners Guild, Inc. (NEPraGuild, Inc.) to provide a dedicated scholarly platform at the intersection of nursing education and clinical practice.

Since its establishment in 2016, NEPraGuild has supported nursing scholarship through the publication of research articles in print during its biennial events and through research capacity-building activities conducted during its midyear conferences. In 2025, the organization's core officers expanded these initiatives by establishing NEPJ as a formal journal publication.

Since its establishment, NEPJ has published two volumes comprising four issues and continues to expand its reach among nurse educators, nursing practitioners, researchers, and students. The journal remains committed to advancing nursing knowledge by promoting scholarly exchange, evidence-based practice, research capacity, and innovation in nursing education and clinical practice.

Manuscript data, reviewer information, and correspondence are handled in accordance with applicable data protection regulations, including the Data Privacy Act of 2012 where applicable, and are retained only as long as necessary to fulfill editorial and archival obligations.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and/or CLOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries, allowing those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.
